MOTOTOURISM RALLY RULES
August 27-28, 2011
Mototourism rally is a team adventure game-trip where the participants travel on their motorbikes across Lithuania, visit its sights and get points for completing certain tasks the organizers provide. The tasks deal with Lithuanian nature, history, architecture and ethnographic heritage, they let both local and foreign participants get to know Lithuania better and have a great time. The team which scores the most point wins.
To participate in the rally one has to register on www.endurolithuania.com. The participants can be Lithuanian or foreign citizens, must have a valid A category driving license and a technically taut legally registered motorcycle.
Family members, friends and anybody who is interested in this game and mototourism in general are welcome to have a good time in the Mototourism camping site, to support the participants, to take part in a supporting team competition and win a prize as well as share the great emotions with the participants.
Organizers, Jury and awards
The organizer of this game is LMSF Tourism Committee (TC).
TC assigns a three-member Jury (the chairman and two members). The Jury supervise the participants following the rules of the game, declare the winners and present the awards: 2 main prizes according to the participants‘ category (see Teams-participants) for the points scored in the game and some additional prizes.
The additional prizes will be awarded in the following nominations:
• The best supporting team. This prize will be awarded for the arrangement of the most beautiful and neat camping area.
• The best female passenger. An arm wrestling competition will be held among female passengers travelling together with the participants, as strong hands and the ability to have a sure hold guarantee the passengers‘ safety.
• The furthest-away guest. The participant who will have arrived to the rally from the most remoted place is going to be awarded this prize.
• “A Lonely Wolf“. A participant travelling on his own without any supporters and carrying all necessary camping equipment with him is going to be awarded this prize for fast and cosy arrangement of his camping space.
The winners in these nominations are chosen and declared by the Jury.
On the second day of the event the competitions for additional prizes are held (see Mototourism camping site and the second day competition).
The decisions of the Jury are irrevocable. Any possible arguments are dealt with on the spot, the time limit for the decision is 10 minutes. At discretion the Jury (by the agreement of its members) can give penalty points for pointless arguing. In such a case the Jury members complete and sign a penalty act, which is irrevocable and gets enclosed with other documents. The Jury can disqualify a team if they suspect these game rules or the Rules of the road have been violated.
Sponsors may establish other additional prizes. The winners in such nominations are chosen and declared by sponsor representatives.

The team choose the captain, whose motorbike must have a GPS navigator (see The game equipment). In this case the GPS navigator is moved to the new captain’s motorbike.
The team members must travel and visit sights together. If due to technical disruptions or any other reasons there is only one team member left, the organizers must be informed immediately. One-member teams are disqualified.
Teams-participants are put into two categories – ‘hosts‘ (Lithuanian permanent residents) and ‘guests‘ (the ones who have come from abroad). If there is at least one Lithuanian resident in a team, it is considered a ‘host‘ team.
The game equipment
Before the start every team have to see to technical equipment which can let count the score correctly and confirm that the tasks have been completed:
• GPS navigators. Each team must have one, which is fitted to the team captain’s motorbike. If the team captain cannot continue the trip, the GPS navigator must be moved to the new captin’s motorbike. Any GPS navigators which can record the length of a cut-off covered and the maximum speed on it are suitable (for details see Appendix 2). The navigator must be switched on during the entire game from the start to the finish, where it is handed over to the Jury. Before the start the distance and maximum speed readings must be set to 0.
• A digital photo camera. By means of it the photographs of odometers of all team members before the start are taken, as well as the photographs of the sights visited (according to the requirments set in the Task Register). The photo camera (or the data medium with the photos) is handed over to the Jury at the finish.
The game documents
The game documents are:
The driving license (DL) of each team member. The DLs have to be shown to a Jury representative after the team has finished.
Tasks Register (TR) is a PDF format file, which the participants must download from www.endurolithuania.com website on August 27th 2011 at 8.00 am. The participants must print it out and hand it over to a Jury representative after the team has finished. This document is considered additional material for score counting control.
TR provides the list of objects to visit, including the description, photos, coordinates and address (if it exists) of each object, the score given for it and additional object visiting conditions, if there are any (see the TR format in Appendix 1).
If the participants fail to download the TR from the website, they will be able to get it from the partners indicated by organizers.
Two weeks before the beginning of the event, on August 13th, 2011, the official site of Mototourism Rally (www.endurolithuania.com) publishes a TR sample, so that the participants can study the format.
Time rate
The game takes place from August 27th, 2011 08:00, when the TR is published, until August 27th, 2011 19:00, when the participants must gather at the game finish point – Mototourism camping site. TR is going to be available for download during the entire time of the event.
Tasks and score counting.
The tasks are visiting certain objects planned by organizers. There are altogether 40 objects, they are divided equally between 4 categories (10 in each): nature, history-architecture, ethnographical heritage and adventure.
Each team has to visit at least one object from each category.
The team designs a route aiming for visiting as many objects and scoring as many points as possible.
Having reached the finish, the participants must show the Jury the game documents (driving licenses and filled-in Tasks Register) and the game equipment (the photo camera and the GPS navigator with the saved data of the distance covered and the maximum speed; the data must be recorded from the start because they influence the score and are the basis for giving prize and penalty points).
The points are given for:
a. The distance covered – 0.5 point per 1km
b. Object visiting (100 points per ordinary object/task, 150 points per complicated object/task and 200 points per extremely complicated object/task).
The value of the object in points is indicated in the Tasks Register.
When a team reaches a chosen object, the members get their photo taken with the object at the background. All registered team members except one (the photographer) must be visible in the picture. Taking photos of some objects the teams should take care of additional required details (the point of photographing, perspective (angle), details and objects which must be seen in the photo).
The course of the game
There is no limitation for the starting point. It might be your home, hotel or your friends’ homestead. On August 27th, 2011 at 08:00 the Tasks Register is published. The participants will be able to download it from a special web page at www.endurolithuania.com using the login name and password they have got during the registration procedure. The TR must be printed out and after the finish handed over to the Jury along with other equipment.
The team designs the route which, in their opinion, will be the most effective and bring them the highest score. Each team is free to choose the starting point, the route and the game tactics and strategy.
Before the start the team:
- takes photos of the odometers of all team members.
- the team captain switches on the GPS navigator and sets its readings to 0, and, if the GPS construction allows, switches on the mode of recording the route (Track Log). The navigator must be switched on all the time during the course of the game, it can be switched off only after showing the Jury the data (distance, speed).
- the team captain sends a text message to number +370 609 12653 indicating the following data:
Team number (space) Number of participants (space) Starting point
e.g. 14 3 Tauragė
Having reached a chosen object one of the team members takes a photo where all other team members and the object are clearly visible. Also, if there are any specific requirements for the photo indicated in the TR, they must be taken into account.
Having visited the objects they have planned, the team must reach the finish – the Mototourism camping site – before August 27th, 2011 19:00.
The coordinates of the finish: 555840, 6066813 (LKS) or 54.73456, 24.86705 (WGS), see www.maps.lt link.
Finish address: šalia Šiemečio ež., Keliakiemio kaimas, Vievio sen., Elektrėnų sav.
Having reached the Finish, the team shows the driving licenses of the team members, hands over to a Jury representative their GPS navigator, photo camera and filled-in Tasks Register and lets the Jury register the team members’ motorbikes’ odometers readings.
After all the teams have finished and the scores have been counted, the winners are declared, the main and additional prizes are awarded and certificates are handed to all the participants who have finished.

All team members must have valid A category driving licenses. They are allowed to start on technically taut and legally registered motorcycles.
